  • FD VERONA

After breakfast departure by private car to Verona to discover a jewel of the European Renaissance,  a clear example of a city that has developed progressively without interruption over 2,000 years. Upon arrival take a short walk into the city center, where your English speaking  guide will take you to the Verona Arena. See one of the finest Roman theaters still in use in existence anywhere in the world. Continue to the Square of Lords (Piazza dei Signori) and Square of Herbs (Piazza Erbe), before going to Juliet's House to see messages of love written by visitors from around the world. You will also go to the Castelvecchio, and see the tombs of the Scala family (Arche Scaligere). Look at the Ponte Pietra, a Roman arch bridge that spans the Adige River. Then, enjoy some free time for some retail therapy on one of the most elegant streets in Italy. Stroll down the Via Mazzini and window shop before your return at the hotel by private car.                                                         

  • FD GARDA LAKE CRUISE

After breakfast, meet your English speaking guide and departure from Sirmione or Desenzano on board of the public boat to discover the Lake Garda, the most Mediterranean of the Italian Alpin lakes. The riviera are full of villages and little town that preserve ancient proofs of the past. With its Romanesque parishes, the baroque churches, the sanctuaries, the monasteries and the heritages, the Garda offers itself as a spiritual location.  Arrival at Riva del Garda and lunch on your own. In the afternoon visit this charming city where stands the Rocca built in 1124 to defend the lake, today seat of the Civic Museum and of the Picture Gallery. Baroque buildings such as the church of the Inviolata and the one dedicated to S. M. Assunta are of great interest. Riva del Garda offers  its tourists the opportunity to practise all sports according to the taste. At the end return by hydrofoil to Sirmione or Desenzano.

 

  • FD SIRMIONE AND GARDONE RIVIERA (by public boat)

After breakfast, meet your English speaking guide and visit this beautiful town known for both its mild climate and the beauty of the landscape. Of particular interest: the remains of Roman villa, called "Grotte di Catullo," which is at the end of the peninsula. At the end short cruise by private boat   around the peninsula with views from the lake of Villa Maria Callas, the Aquaria Wellness Spa and Grotte di Catullo (Catullo’s caves);  panoramic view of Manerba Rock, Isle of Rabbits, the Isle of Garda and Torre San Marco. Lunch on your own. In the afternoon departure by public boat  to Gardone Riviera, famous location rich of gardens and tropical plants. Landing and visit the residence of Gabriele D’Annunzio, called “Vittoriale degli Italiani”, a monumental complex that hosts, in the rich park, an open theatre based on the Greco-Roman style, and the mausoleum preserving still the rests of the Poet. At the  way back to  Sirmione by public boat.

 

  • FD FRANCIACORTA AND LAKE ISEO.

Departure by private car to Sulzano  (lake Iseo). Meet your English speaking guide, boarding on public boat and departure to Peschiera Maraglio. Disembarkation in Montisola, the highest lake island in Europe and the largest of south central Europe, widely regarded as the pearl of Lake Iseo (a mountain in an 'island ...) Peschiera is a picturesque village with pretty harbor where are moored the NAET, the typical fisherman's boat on Lake Iseo. The old town can be visited on foot; just so you can admire the narrow streets and the Church of San Michele (sec. XVII). By walk you will reach  Sensole, along a coastal street among  the olive trees and plenty of bars and  restaurants. Faced with the beautiful islet of St. Paul,  on the shore of the lake, there is a chapel of the seventeenth century. on whose façade, above the portal, there is a painting of the Madonna. On top of a cliff face overlooking the lake,  the beautiful landscape of the Fortress Oldofredi. By public boat return to Sulzano. Lunch at your own. In the afternoon transfer in Franciacorta area, the region that produce some of the country’s most famous wines. The area derived its name from curtes francae – a group of medieval villages that fell under the protection of Benedictine monks and which were exempted from paying taxes. The priests left their mark: churches, monasteries, convents and shrines, as well as castles and former nobles’ villas. This is an excellent place to explore, for both its history and its cuisine.  Stop for visit and tasting in a cellar to know the secrets of this good wine. At the end return to the hotel by private car

 

  • MANTUA

After breakfast departure by private car to Mantua. Meet your English Speaking guide and visit the Palazzo Ducale, the residence of the Gonzaga family during the nearly 400 years of their rule over the city. A town within the town, a treasure chest “worthy of travelling a thousand miles to see it “ as in the words of Torquato Tasso. Among the highlights, Pisanello’s frescoes, the Hall of Mirrors, an altarpiece by Rubens, Raphael’s Tapestries and “the most beautiful room in the world”: Camera degli Sposi which is the masterpiece of Andrea Mantegna -, in the Old Court – by Pisanello – and in the Appartamento di Troia  - by Giulio Romano. Lunch on your own. In the afternoon the tour continue to the other magnificent building left by the Gonzaga family in Mantua:  Palazzo Te, which was built and frescoed by Giulio Romano (1525  to 1535): you will surely admire Sala dei Giganti, Amore e Psiche and Cavalli – the rooms illustrating the Fall of the Giants, the Tale of Love and Psyche and Gonzaga's horses. From the Middle Ages, a big jump in time more than in space, takes to the beautiful Scientific Theater founded by the members of the Accademia Virgiliana and used as a theatre for performances, scientific experiments and doctrinal exhibitions. It was built by Antonio Galli Bibiena of Parma who lavished his creative genius on it, making it one of the most complete examples of rococo theatre architecture. It was opened in 1769 and a month later Amadeus Mozart gave a concert here. At the end way back  by private car at your hotel.

Time at leisure to visit the Sigurtà Park.  This park-garden has an area of 560,000 square meters and extends to the margins of the moraine hills. Takes its origin from the Garden of Villa Maffei (by Pellesina, a pupil of Palladio - 1617), and in 1859 was the headquarters of Napoleon III. In forty years of loving care, Charles Sigurtà , by using an ancient right to draw water from the river Mincio, performed the miracle of turning the lush arid hillside. Subsequently, the grandson Enzo has created a prototype of Park-Garden.. At the way back by private car at your  hotel.

 

  • CASTELLARO LAGUSELLO, BORGHETTO SUL MINCIO, MANTUA

After breakfast departure by private car to Castellaro Lagusello. Meet your English Speaking guide and visit this ancient village, inserted between "The Hundred Most Beautiful Villages of Italy". It is situated on the edge of a lake of glacial origin in the shape of heart. You can admire the remains of a castle of  thirteenth century, the city walls, towers and walkways, as well as the palace of the Marquis and the Baroque parish, with furniture and paintings from the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries. The tour goes on towards  to Borghetto sul Mincio.  one of the most picturesque villages in Italy. It is situated, as the name implies, on the river Mincio which flows from Lake Garda into the river Po, the longest river in Italy. The best views of the village are from the nearby Ponte Visconteo (Visconti Bridge), a bridge that originally connected the Scaligero Castle, still visible on the top of the hill above the area, also offering a good view of the surroundings. The name Borghetto translates as “fortified settlement”; the village consists of a few houses and the church of St.Mark the Evangelist. The main attraction in the village are three old mills that can be seen in between the little houses on the river.  Lunch at your own ( we suggest to try very good local specialty, tortellini of Valeggio, the famous filled Italian fresh pasta for which this area is well known for) .. It consists of several buildings that were originally allocated to different activities by the monks. The core is structured around the cloisters of Secular and San Simeon. In middle position with respect to the two cloisters is the church, the sacristy and the church of St. Mary. In this first part other buildings such as the autonomous convent of the Canossian Sisters, two buildings intended for residence, the Refectory and the parish house. After breakfast departure by private car to Cremona, a city  famous all over the world  for its production of high-quality violins.  Cremona has a picturesque historic center with most sights clustered around the main square, Piazza del Comune. Meet the English speaking guide and visit the Cathedral with its sixteenth-century fresco cycle in the central nave, the great Baptistery in Romanesque style, the famous Torrazzo (the highest masonry bell tower in Europe), the Town Hall with beautiful frescoed rooms and the Militia Lodge.  The tour continues with a pleasant walk in the so-called district of luthiers to see the places where Stradivari lived. The tour also includes a trip to some historical shops in Via Solferino and an interesting visit to the paved roman road of the I century b.C. where you can observe up-close two important remains of cardo and decumano streets, which are situated approx. 4 feet from street level. In the nice green panorama of the countryside which surrounds Soncino lies the Sforzesco fortress, an important example of military architecture, with its semi-circular large towers, the bridge in masonry-work, and the moat. The House of the Printmakers, location of an important printing house where the first complete Hebrew Bible was published in 1488, offers visitors the possibility to view a demonstration of how the ancient machinery worked. The guide will take you to live a wonderful journey to discover the places where Verdi was born and raised.  Itinerary includes the visit of the birthplace of Giuseppe Verdi in Roncole Verdi, a fraction of Busseto. It is presented as "a poor house, low and long, a little 'crooked'. On the ground floor it was housed the tavern-grocery of Carlo Verdi and Luigia Uttini, parents of the future composer. The Teatro Verdi is located in the Rocca (former Castle of the Pallavicino); Founded in thirteenth  century, extensively remodeled it is today in the aspect that was given in the second half of the nineteenth century. Barezzi Museum, site of the first musical education of young Giuseppe Verdi. The town hall, the Philharmonic Hall Bussetana founded by Antonio Barezzi, welcomed the first compositions and public performances of Verdi student and then a young teacher.
