  • Treviso, Asolo and Prosecco Hills

In the morning meet the driver and your personal English speaking guide. Departure to Asolo. Nestling in an enchanting hilly landscape, Asolo is one of the best-known and loveliest villages in Italy. Called “the city of a hundred horizons “its charm exudes from the beauty of the views from all directions. The concept of a "widespread museum" finds one of its best expressions in this place. The clearly medieval imprint of Asolo Huddles within the ancient walls e and is dominated by the Fortress, an imposing medieval construction built on Mount Ricco to guard the city. Central Piazza Garibaldi with its sixteenth-century fountain might be considered the heart of the city; from here you are within a short walk of some of Asolo's main monuments: The Castle fortress in the Middle Ages that was home to Caterina Cornaro and her Renaissance court with the characteristic original Reata towers today houses the theatre dedicated to Eleonora Duse. The Palazzo della Ragione a fifteenth-century construction with a façade emblazoned with frescoes by Contarini (1560) currently houses the City Museum. The medieval Cathedral, historical seat of the bishop reworked in the Eighteenth century to a design by Giorgio Masari, contains important works by Lorenzo Lotto (Assunta), Jacopo da Ponte, known as the Bassano, (Assunta) and Sebastiano Bastiani (San Girolamo). On the Northeast side of the adjacent Piazza Brugnoli, where the Roman baths were to be found in ancient times, you can visit the last stretch of the Roman aqueduct called "la Bot". After the visit the tour goes on along the Strada del Vino Bianco (White Wine Route) passing through Valdobbiadene, the capital of the Prosecco area. Stop at the famous winery to visit and rich tasting of sparkling wine and local products (replace lunch). After the wine tasting departure to Treviso.  An enchanting landscape where the meeting of water and land create a new magical impression. Like many other Venetian municipalities, Treviso has undergone several dominations through the centuries: from the Longobards (in the 8th century), it became a free municipality before passing under the jurisdiction of the Romano family (13th) and Camino (until 14th), the Scaligeri (14th), finally ceding to Venice in 1389 and sharing its fate until being annexed to the Kingdom of Italy in 1860. All of these phases have left tangible traits on the architecture of the city, in a harmonious sequence of buildings which skirt the waters and follow the centre. Of particular note in its eternal aspect is Piazza dei Signori. Among the many sacred and civic edifices which preserve the sense of history, with their many celebrated frescoes and treasures within, may be mentioned The Palazzo dei Trecento (13th century), the Loggia dei Cavalieri (12th), Duomo (rebuilt during the 15th and 16th) with its Malchiostro chapel, and the churches of San. Vito and Santa Lucia (12th), San Francesco (13th) and San Niccolò (13th - 14th). Also recommended is a visit to the Museo Civico 'Luigi Bailo' which houses masterpieces by G. Bellini, Lorenzo Lotto, Titian and Jacopo Bassano. At the end back to Venice.

  • Padua and Euganei Hills

In the morning meet the driver and your English-speaking guide. Departure to Padua.  The city of Padua has a rich history which is reflected in the uniqueness of its attractions. The star attraction of the city of Padua is the Scrovegni Chapel which was erected in the 13th century. (RESERVATION IN ADVANCE). An unassuming building from the exterior, the interior houses one of Italy 's most precious works of art that has been recently restored. To honor the death of his father, Enrico Scrovegni hired Giotto (one of the founding figures in the Renaissance movement) to decorate the interior of the building in Padua. The artist, along with followers, created a magnificent cycle of frescoes illustrating the lives of Mary and Jesus. The realism in these frescoes, which featured the first blue skies in Western painting were almost revolutionary and provided a shining light to the Renaissance movement that followed many years later. Your local expert guide will shed more light on these important frescoes as you enjoy your private walking tour of Padua. Tour the Basilica of St. Anthony, crowned by Byzantine domes and minaret style towers is only second to the Basilica of St. Marks for its Asian inspired beauty. The interior of the church is richly decorated courtesy of the generosity of Pilgrims who have made their way to this church for centuries to give thanks to the popular St. Antony. Although, officially the 13th June is the feast day of the saint nowadays pilgrims come all year round to Padua, and with the inner cloisters and church filled with happy groups of Pilgrims there is still a sense of life to be held in this church that many of its counterparts have lost.
