Day 01: ARRIVAL IN ITALY
Arrival at Milan Malpensa airport. Meet & greet . Departure by private coach to Venice. Transfer by private boat to your 4* hotel downtown historical town. Accommodation. Time at leisure to explore your new surroundings, or a short orientation walking tour with your guide. Dinner at the hotel and overnight.
Day 02: VENICE
Breakfast at your hotel. In the morning meet your English speaking guide in St. Mark Square. Walking tour outdoors (no entries) through the most characteristic and important places for the history of Venice. Your qualified and experienced guide will escort you through the millennium of life of the Serenissima Republic, recalling the past full of charm of this unique city. An essential tour for the understanding of Venice!! You can see the external of the Palazzo Ducale represented for centuries the seat of the Venetian political power. The tour continuing in one of the most majestic cathedrals of the world! ST.MARK. Enjoy this masterpiece of byzantine art, unique of its kind in Italy, with beautiful gold mosaics and marble inlays of the floors. Lunch at your own. Afternoon at leisure or half day excursion to the three islands (Murano, Burano & Torcello). Boarding on a public/private boat to Murano Island where you can visit a glass factory to see and experience first-hand one of the largest arts blinds. Dinner at your own and overnight at the hotel.
Day 03: VENICE – VERONA – COMO LAKE
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by private minibus towards Como. Stop to visit the Giardino Giusti, in Verona. It is set on a steep hillside behind the villa courtyard. This is one of the oldest renaissance gardens in Italy, probably laid out in the 1570’s. At the end visit the Juliette’s house, possibly the inspiration for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliette. Then to Lake Garda, and the Giardino Hruska Botanico. This fairly small garden, laid out for the dentist to Tzar Nicholas II, has everything crammed into it.: alpines, ferns, bananas, reeds, lilies and hydrangeas. At the end departure towards Como. Accommodation at your 4* hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 04: COMO LAKE
Breakfast at your hotel. Departure by private minibus to Lenno and visit the Villa del Balbianello, sitting on the lakeside. At one time the only access was by boat. The villa was built in the 18th century for a cardinal, but the rich interior was furnished by the last private owner, a Milanese entrepreneur in the 1970’s. The true pride and joy of the villa, however is the panoramic terraced garden, dominated by its elegant loggia. Lunch at your own. In the afternoon visit of a winery to taste some Italian wines. Dinner at your own and overnight at the hotel.****
Day 05: COMO LAKE
Breakfast at your hotel. Departure by public boat to Tremezzo and visit the best known, and most visited of the region’s villas. It is Villa Carlotta, built in the late 16th century. It attracts more than 150,000 visitors a year, and with good reason. Most visitors would say that the house is beautiful ,but the gardens are magnificent. We then take the ferry to Bellagio, where you have free time for lunch in this charming, small lakeside town. Afternoon visit to Villa Melzi, which is within walking distance of the town centre. The English style gardens, enriched with sculptures, were designed by the architect Luigi Canonica, and the botanist, Luigi Villoresi, both leaders in their respective fields in the early 19th century. At the end way back by public boat to Como. Dinner at your own and overnight at the hotel.
Day 06: COMO LAKE – MILAN – MAGGIORE LAKE
Breakfast at your hotel. Departure by private minibus to Milan, with its elegant shopping arcades and magnificent cathedral. Lunch at your own. In the afternoon departure towards Lake Maggiore.
Visit of Villa Polidora in Laveno Mombello, a private Villa with one of the largest private botanical gardens of the lake district, covering 17 acres, and with almost one km of lake shore, bordered by pink granite walls carved from local quarries. Started at the beginning of 1900 by Vincenzo Sarto, it features an exotic conifer collection, a unique Taxodium grove on the private beach, a 60m long hornbeam, thousands of azaleas and many interesting specimen. At the end departure by private minibus to your 4* hotel in Stresa , on the Western shore of Maggiore lake. Accommodation, dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 07: LAKE MAGGIORE
Breakfast at your hotel. Boarding on private boat and departure to Isola Bella . Visit the baroque palace of the '600 and charming Italian garden which made the island famous in the world. Built from 1632, the Palace and Gardens of Bella Isle, are the primary attraction of Lake Maggiore. The gardens form an extraordinary, flowered monument laid out over a series of ornate and overlapping terraces, a classic and inimitable example of seventeenth century "Italian garden". At the end the tour goes on to the Isola Pescatori (Fisherman Island). It is occupied almost entirely by an antique, rustic, village, from the tortuous and narrow lanes and preserves the flavour of old age. Lunch at typical restaurant. In the afternoon departure to Isola Madre, the largest of the Borromean Islands. Its gardens, where all manner of peacocks, parrots and pheasants roam freely, are full of rare plants and exotic flowers, helping to create the charm of a tropical land. Way back to Stresa by boat. Dinner at your own and overnight at the hotel.
Day 08: LAKE MAGGIORE – SWITZERLAND
Breakfast at your hotel. Departure by private coach go to Verbania and visit the Villa Taranto gardens, founded by Scotsman Neil McEarchern in 1931, where you will get your morning walk amidst the rare and unusual gardens with its mild Winter climate, high rainfall and hot Summers provides a botanical feast that cannot be missed. Lunch at your own. In the afternoon departure to Brissago located at the North of Lake Maggiore, in Switzerland. Embarkation on public boat to the Brissago Islands which have a mild, subtropical climate, and house more than 1,700 species of Mediterranean, South African, American and Oceanic plants. At the way back to Brissago by public boat and along the Western shore of Lake Maggiore back to your hotel. Dinner at your own and overnight at the hotel.
Day 9: LAKE MAGGIORE – LAKE ORTA
Breakfast at your hotel. Departure to Stresa Alpine Garden by private coach . The plants are all labeled, and the garden is a complete contrast to the exotic gardens on the lakeside. Lunch at your own. In the afternoon continue by private minibus to Pella on lake Orta. Embarkation on the boat to reach the Isola di San Giulio, with its magical atmosphere rich in spirituality. Visit the ancient Roman basilica and beautiful bas-reliefs of the XII century, preserved in it. Walk along the path of Silence, traveled in reverse, it becomes of Meditation, whose signs call for an interior journey which involves listening and exploration. At the end by public boat continue to Orta and visit this charming village. You can see the sixteenth-century Palazzo della Comunità, the Renaissance Palazzo Gemelli, the fourteenth-century Casa dei Nani and the parish church Parrocchia dell’Assunta. Meet your coach and back to your hotel. Dinner at your own and overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: DEPARTURE
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by private minibus to Milan airport or rail station.
