Day 1: ARRIVAL IN ZURICH
In the afternoon arrival at Zurich Airport. Collect your personal Family Swiss Pass and departure to Interlaken by train. Transfer by your own to your hotel. Accommodation at the rooms (children will share bed with parents). Dinner on your own and overnight.
DAY 2: JUNGFRAU – TOP OF EUROPE
Breakfast at your hotel. Transfer by your own to the railway station and departure for the excursion to the Jungfrau – Top of Europe. A remarkable route:
Interlaken Ost - Lauterbrunnen - Kleine Scheidegg - Jungfraujoch - Grindelwald - Interlaken Ost.
This unique round-trip by modern cogwheel railway takes you first to Kleine Scheidegg, altitude 2061 metres, at the foot of the notorious Eiger North Wall. From here the Jungfrau Railway climbs to the station at Eigergletscher, well known for its mountain restaurant and polar dog kennels. The trip continues through the Eiger tunnel to the stations at Eigerwand and Eismeer, with a five-minute halt at each. Enjoy spectacular sightseeing through large observation windows hewn from solid Alpine rock. And then the arrival on the Jungfraujoch, in the heart of a glorious glacier world on the very roof of Europe! Superb views extend as far as the summits of the Vosges Mountains in France and the Black Forest in Germany. The Great Aletsch Glacier, at 22 km the longest ice-stream in the Alps. Snow and ice 100% guaranteed! The Sphinx observation hall, impressive Ice Palace and hiking plateau - these are the year-round attractions up on the Jungfraujoch, the highest railway station in Europe. Summer attractions include a ski lift, husky-drawn sledging and adventure activities. At the end way, back to the hotel. Collect the luggage and departure by train to Luzern (Journey time: about 2 hours). Accommodation at your 3* hotel. Dinner at your own and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: LUCERNE
Breakfast at your hotel. Transfer by your own to the railway station and departure by train to Lucerne. Transfer by your own to the hotel located 500 mt from railway station. Accommodation in double rooms (children will share bed with parents). Dinner on your own and overnight. Time at leisure to discover this beautiful town. We suggest: the Lion Monument, the Musegg Towers and Walls, the Jesuit Church, the Old Town with the Town Hall, historic fountains, squares and houses, the Jesuit Church and the wooden Chapel Bridge. Lunch & dinner on your own. Overnight at your hotel.
Day 4: LUCERNE - VENICE
Breakfast at your hotel. In the morning departure by train to Venice. Arrival at the main station (Venezia Santa Lucia). Transfer by your own to your hotel located downtown Venice. Accommodation at the rooms. Time at leisure. Dinner on your own and overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: VENICE
Breakfast at your hotel. In the morning meet your English-speaking guide. Half day city tour that includes: Piazza San Marco, with its famous St. Mark’s Basilica, a superb example of the Romanesque-Byzantine style that was built in 10th century, the Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the ancient seat of the main government departments. Visit of the rooms, the courts and the prisons passing through the Ponte dei Sospiri. The bridge leads to the New and Old Prisons, where Giacomo Casanova was kept prisoner, and passing through secret passages it is possible to reach the attic of the Maggior Consiglio room. (please note: Doge’s Palace and St. Mark skip the line). Afternoon at leisure. Dinner on your own and overnight at your hotel.
Day 6: VENICE - FLORENCE
Breakfast at your hotel. Departure by fast train to Florence (journey time: about 2 hrs). Accommodation at the hotel and lunch at your own. In the afternoon time at leisure to visit one of the most beautiful Italian city. WE SUGGEST TO SEE: the Uffizi Museum. This palace, located between Piazza delle Signorie and the river Arno, was once administrative offices. Today it houses one of the finest collections of Italian art in general, and Florentine art in particular, in the world. Here you will find great masterpieces of the Renaissance such as ‘L’ Annunciazione’ by Leonardo da Vinci, ‘La Sacra Famiglia’ by Michelangelo, ‘La Primavera’ by Botticelli as well as masterpieces by artists such as Raffaello, Tiziano, and Caravaggio). From Piazza Michelangelo you will experience a stunning view of the city, then you’ll move on towards the historical center of the city towards Piazza San Giovanni where you will view the Duomo (Santa del Fiore) with the Dome by Brunelleschi and the Bell Tower designed by Giotto (one of the most important in Italy, and decorated entirely inside with black and white marble), which dominate the city from their imposing heights, and nearby the baptistery of St. John with its three beautiful decorated bronze doors. The visit will go on towards the Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in Florence and famous for its vast array of jeweler shops, and the large Piazza delle Signorie, the heart of the town, dominated by Palazzo Vecchio (the old palace). Dinner at your own and overnight at the hotel.
Day 7: FLORENCE - ROME
Breakfast at your hotel. Departure by fast train to Rome (journey time: about 1 hr and 30 minutes). At the arrival meet your personal driver. Transfer by private coach to your hotel. In the afternoon meet your English-speaking guide at the main entrance of Vatican Museums. The itinerary includes the Sistine Chapel, Michelangelo’s masterpiece. Dinner at your own and overnight.
Day 8: ROME
Breakfast at your hotel. In the morning meet your English-speaking guide at the main entrance of Colosseum. Once inside, your guide will talk you through the bloody past of the amphitheatre as you listen to tales of gladiators, mock sea-battles and executions. After a brief rest at the Arch of Constantine, you will arrive at the Palatine Hill- the most famous of the seven hills of Rome. From here you will admire the views of the Roman Forum and Nero’s Circus Maximus where chariot races were once held. Romulus and Remus were said to have been found on the Palatine Hill by the she-wolf who nursed and raised them. Legend holds that Romulus went on to found Rome. The last stop is a walk along the “Via Sacra” or “Sacred Way” which is the main path through the Roman Forum that once sparkled with festivals and triumphal processions. It ends at the Temple which houses the altar where Julius Caesar was cremated. Lunch at your own. In the afternoon transfer by private Coach to Fiumicino Airport.
