DAY 1: Arrival in Italy - transfer to Albenga (Italian Riviera).
Arrival at Milan airport and departure by private car/coach towards the Italian Riviera (Liguria). Accommodation at your 4* hotel and time to relax, before enjoying a welcome dinner at the hotel. Overnight.
DAY 2: Oil and extra virgin olive taggiasca Liguria, from Imperia to San Remo
Breakfast at your hotel and departure to Imperia to visit the Museum of the Olive Fratelli Carli. It narrates through 18 rooms rich in artistic and archaeological history started 6000 years ago, when the olive tree was the first plant cultivated by man and sacred to the gods. There are historical artifacts, traditions, techniques and instructions about the use of oil in the kitchen. After a tasting of olive oil and paste, light lunch in town with the famous taste of pizza. In the afternoon time to explore the fascinating Old Bussana: the earthquake stricken town, now artists' village. Indeed, it was rediscovered and revived to life by a group of artists, both Italian and foreign, since the early '60s, after the earthquake that destroyed it in 1887. Arts and Crafts wink between the visitor and carefully reconstructed houses and narrow streets, inviting you to rest and shopping. Return to hotel and dinner. Optional visits to Sanremo Casino. Overnight.
DAY 3: Portofino and 5 Terre.
Breakfast and departure to Portofino, a jewel in the world, declared a Unesco World Heritage Site, where pastel-colored houses overlook the bay. The tour goes on to the Cinque Terre. Stop at a farm, to learn the techniques of cultivation of terraced vineyards and the production of the famous Cinque Terre wines; tasting and light lunch on the farm. In the afternoon walk in the village of Riomaggiore, along the Way of Love (20-30 minute walk with easy path), which goes toward the inside with two parallel rows of tall, narrow houses, built along the final course of Major stream, now covered. The terraced houses typical of the fishing villages, built one over another depending in order to defend itself , the upper balconies, porches, narrow streets and steep alleyways . In the late afternoon, depart for your next 4* hotel. Tasting dinner and overnight
DAY 4: Cooking lessons and Albissola
After breakfast, departure to visit a local farm, producer of artichokes and vegetables. Go back to the hotel to participate in cooking lesson preparing a typical menu learning techniques of flour, pesto and some stuffed vegetables. Tasting of your meal. In the afternoon stroll in Marina Albissola for visiting artisan potter, knowing the traditional techniques of ceramic processing and tasting the wine Ligurian Pigato. Return to the hotel and seafood dinner. Overnight
DAY 5: From Italian Riviera to Monferrato (Piedmont)
Buffet breakfast. Today you will leave the Italian Rivera to reach the Apennines; stop to the pastures of Roccaverano, to be present in the production of DOP Robiola of Roccaverano chees: wine and cheese tasting with homemade robiole and tome. Will follow the afternoon in Acqui Terme, famous for thermal bath of hot water, with a walk in the village and a stop at the "hot" fountain, then at farm where you can taste the famous Dolcetto di Acqui DOC and Brachetto d'Acqui DOCG wines. Departure to your 4* hotel located in the hearts of wine area. Dinner with seasonal meals from Piedmont. Overnight
DAY 6: Sparkling wines, grappa and truffle
After breakfast depart to Canelli, an UNESCO World Heritage city for its beautiful rolling hills planted with vines and underground cathedrals of wine. Visit an important wine cellar to learn the secrets of must and maturing wine and sparkling wine. Will follow the visit to Brothers Berta Distillery, in Mombaruzzo, where you can immerse yourself into the manufacturing techniques and refining of Piedmont grappa. Light lunch in a farm. In the afternoon enjoy the 1,5 h Truffle Hunt with your truffle hunter (and his dog), who will share with you his knowledge and experience a funny but informative program on the world of the truffle. Walking through the woods to explore the famous White Truffle. Return to the home of the truffle, with the result of research and tasting of some dishes with truffles. Way back to your resort. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 7: Truffle Fair of Asti
After breakfast, hike and fly to Moncalvo in Monferrato, a tiny village, where you can take part to the Regional Exhibition Fair of the white truffle of Alba and Asti. (LAST TWO SUNDAYS IN OCTOBER). On the central square of the city fresh truffles, mushrooms and regional delicacies such as cheese, wine and pastries are offered at the Fiera del Tartufo, which has rather the character of a truffle market. The food offered can also be tasted. The best truffles of the year will be awarded. Stroll through its narrow streets and admire the village, full of craft shops and gourmet food, including historic houses (beautiful facade of the charming medieval Palazzo Lanfranconi). Back to your resort for dinner and overnight.
DAY 8: Gavi, wine e shopping
After breakfast, departure to Gavi and visit of the imposing fortress. Will follow a stop at the famous wine production cellar of white wine with country lunch in the reception room of the company. In the afternoon transfer to the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Serravalle Scrivia. Time at leisure for shopping among the 180 shops of the most famous Italian and international leading brands. Evening return to the Relais for dinner and overnight
DAY 9: Barberesco and Alba
Breakfast in hotel. Through the Wine Roads of Monferrato and the Langhe, you will reach a little village nestled along the right bank of the river Tanaro, to discover the "wine of the queen, " as precisely defined in the wine DOCG Barbaresco. Tasting a sample a range of 3 different "crus" of the same vintage of Barbaresco. Descent to Alba for lunch and a walk in the city. Arrival in Pollenzo and hotel accommodation. Time at leisure to relax and visit the Wine Bank, discovering some limited production wines and great charm and originality. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight.
DAY 10: The Barolo’s Langa and Monforte
Breakfast in hotel. Departure along the lush hills of the Langhe and Roero, arriving in La Morra, where the vineyards overlooking the beautiful landscape that surrounds it. Walk in the country, tasting and brief tour in Barolo, the undisputed capital of the Piedmont wine with visit the castle and the Wine Museum. Stop to famous Marchesi di Barolo winery, to meet the fascinating world of wines of ancient Langa. Descend into the underground cellars of aging wine and admire the unique collection of bottles in Italy, representing the whole of their secular business activities; tasting. Lunch in the reception room of the winemaker and afternoon visit of the the farm in Monforte Dogliani, with its production of DOC Dolcetto di Dogliani: tasting. Return to Pollenzo for relaxation and dinner. Overnight
DAY 11: The Royal Palace of Venaria and Turin.
After breakfast, departure by private coach towards Turin. Visit the beautiful Venaria, recently restored, along with its lush Italian gardens and its stables. Light lunch in a traditional restaurant with a menu that focuses on local products , paired with wines Erbaluce of Calumet, Carema and many others . Afternoon at the conquest of the city of Turin: The classical walking tour takes you to the ancient Roman remains, such as the gate Porta Palatina and then to many imposing Baroque buildings: the Royal Palace, for centuries the residence of the House of Savoy, the San Lorenzo Church, a 17th century masterpiece . Of great importance is the Palazzo Madama with its grand staircase designed by the architect Filippo Juvarra. The tour continues on to Via Roma with its Baroque Piazza San Carlo, at the centre of which rises “L Caval 'd Brons”, an equestrian monument representing Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, the duke who made Turin the capital of the Duchy of Savoy in 1563. You can proceed to Piazza Carignano, to admire the Palazzo Carignano , where the first king of Italy was born and where the first Italian Parliament was based. A lot of visitors come to Turin also to see the place where the Holy Shroud is kept, in the cathedral dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, the only example of Renaissance architecture in Turin. The city boasts many interesting Museums: the Egyptian collection, second only to the Cairo Museum; the Cinema Museum, located in the iconic building of Turin (the Mole Antonelliana), or the entertaining brand-new Automobile Museum. Accommodation at your 4* hotel. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 12: The plain of the Po and the rice fields of Vercelli.
After breakfast check out hotel and depart for Vercelli, with a stop at rice mill. The guided tour will allow you to discover a world unknown to most people – enjoy a full immersion in the artisanal production and processing of rice. This type of processing means all organoleptic qualities and unique characteristics of an ancient cereal such as rice remain intact. Rice-based lunch: 5 appetizers; Sampling of Carnaroli rice, Panissa vercellese with walnuts, pears and blue cheese, herbs creamed with Parmesan cheese; Rice dessert; Barbera del Monferrato and Cortese del Piemonte wines.
